David Ndung’u Appointed CEO of Sunshine Development Tour

The Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing has announced the appointment of David Ndung’u as its new Chief Executive Officer ahead of Season II of the Tour.

<p>Ndung’u, an experienced golf administrator, brings extensive expertise in tournament management, rules officiation, and sports governance across the region.</p><p>He has previously held senior leadership roles within the Kenya Golf Union, including serving as Chairman in 2024/25, and chaired the Kenya Unified Handicapping and Course Rating Committee (KUHC) between 2020 and 2022. He also contributed to the implementation of the World Handicap System as part of its regional rollout.</p><p>A certified Tournament Administration and Rules Official with Level 3 certification in the Rules of Golf, Ndung’u has officiated at major championships including the Magical Kenya Open, Magical Kenya Ladies Open, Africa Amateur Championship, Safari Tour, Victoria Cup, and the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship series.</p><p>Beyond golf administration, Ndung’u brings a strong corporate background, having worked in the technology sector with organizations such as Oracle Corporation and Microsoft across West, East, and Central Africa.</p><p>In his new role, Ndung’u will be responsible for streamlining Tour operations, strengthening stakeholder and partnership engagement, and building a robust operational structure to support the continued growth of the Sunshine Development Tour. His mandate also includes expanding opportunities for players and enhancing the Tour’s commercial sustainability.</p><p>The appointment marks a key milestone as the Tour tees off its second season, reinforcing its commitment to developing competitive pathways for golfers in the region.</p><p>The Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing continues to position itself as a key platform for emerging talent, providing a structured pathway into higher-level professional golf competition across Africa and beyond.</p>
